How staking works
The hive doesn't sleep. The hive accumulates. Every hornet that stays with its holder earns Hive Points - no lock, no gas, no risk to the NFT itself.
How it works
Staking is soft - no lock, no escrow. Your hornet never leaves your wallet. We track who holds which hornet and for how long, and points accrue off-chain, on our side. No gas, no risk of losing access to your NFT, no smart contract that can be exploited.
The trade-off for that simplicity is trust: the ledger is kept by our server, not by a blockchain. This is step one. If the mechanic proves itself, the next stage is an on-chain version - with the NFT actually locked in an audited contract, so the whole thing becomes independently verifiable.
Nobody's making you do this. But a hornet that just sits in your wallet doing nothing is a wasted sting.

Ranked once, from the traits assigned at mint - Type, Character, Background, Essence, Vision, Voice, Spirit, Force.

A hornet's tier can be checked before you buy it - it never changes. A Legendary doesn't get angrier over time. It was already the angriest one in the box.
Earning points
Base rate: 5 points per 12 hours, multiplied by tier weight.

Streak bonus - reward for holding, not flipping.
Every unbroken 30-day stretch with the same holder adds +10% to a hornet's multiplier. The streak runs continuously - it isn't reset by season boundaries.

Sale or transfer
Any change of ownership - a sale, a transfer, a move to another wallet - resets that hornet's points and streak to zero. Only the hornet that moved resets; the rest of your hive keeps everything it earned. The new holder starts from scratch.
The hive doesn't forgive a flip.
Seasons
Season 1 runs for three months from the launch of staking. The snapshot at the end of it is what future rewards - and any $HORNET allocation - will be based on. What happens after Season 1 will be announced closer to the date.
What points are for
Right now, points buy status and standing in the hive: a public leaderboard, whitelist spots and early access to future drops, and giveaways among the highest balances.
Coming: $HORNET
Points earned are being tracked as the foundation for a future $HORNET token allocation. Nothing about timing or parameters is promised. Points earned today will be counted toward any future distribution; points reset by a sale won't carry forward. None of this is a promise of income or an offer of securities.

This is an off-chain ledger, not a blockchain
Point accrual is tracked by our server. We commit to publishing regular balance snapshots so this stays checkable - that is not the same guarantee an on-chain contract gives you.
Points are not a token and not an obligation
They can't be traded, have no price, and carry no guarantee that $HORNET will launch or convert at any particular rate.
A transfer resets progress
Including a move to your own second wallet. The ledger sees no difference from a sale.
Rarity rank is fixed
Computed once, from the final traits assigned at mint, unless a re-reveal is announced.
